ZEISS Loxia Lenses

The perfect companion for documentaries and high-quality reports.

Light and inconspicuous – the ZEISS Loxia Lenses are optimally suited to video recordings: their compact size enables the cameraman to work unobtrusively from various angles and thus avoid disrupting the scenery. This makes them the perfect companion for documentaries and high-quality reports.

The ZEISS Loxia lenses are small, robust and made of metal. Nevertheless, they offer exceptional image quality. The focus ring has a rotation angle of 180°, which enables fine focusing on the subject. A harmonious bokeh and the full-frame coverage are the ideal complements to the ZEISS Loxia lenses.

  • High quality images thanks to proven optical design
  • Automatic activation of the magnification function when turning the focus ring
  • Optional switchable aperture lock, allowing for smooth adjustment in video mode
  • Consistent 180° focus ring rotation for all lenses in the series

Optimized for high-res sensors

ZEISS Loxia Lenses

The lenses offer a high resolution across the entire image field and — especially at the maximal aperture opening of f/2 — a harmonious bokeh in the background. ZEISS Loxia lenses are suitable for digital Sony Alpha cameras and have been optimized for film and sensors up to full 35 mm format (24 x 36 mm).

Ideal for videography

ZEISS Loxia Lenses

Thanks to the iris de-click feature and super-smooth manual focusing are the perfect tool for demanding videographers. The completely new feature of the Loxia lens is that you can ‘declick’ the aperture’s locking mechanism using a tool (supplied) and an adjustment screw on the bayonet surface. This means that for video applications, you can smoothly eliminate any unwanted differences in brightness as you pan the camera.

Compact, lightweight design

ZEISS Loxia Lenses

While the overall length of the different Loxia lenses might vary, the front diameter is consistent for all three focal lengths in the family. This results in a small, handy system solution ideal for documentary work, events or any shooting situation where the camera should not be the center of attention.

New ZEISS Loxia 2.8/21 and Milvus lenses for video in low light conditions

"On the a7S II I used the brand new Zeiss Loxia 21mm f2.8 and the Milvus 50mm f1.4 and 100mm f2.8 macro with a Metabones EF to E-mount adapter. The crop factor for 120fps made having a wide like the 21mm Loxia essential.  Shutter speed was set at 1/250th and the picture profile was S-Log 2 with S-Gamut. The camera was set between 1600 and 6400 ISO depending on which lens was used. The results were impressive given the conditions. Noise was evident, but it was not as bad as I feared it might be. At 1600 (the base for S-Log shooting) it seemed well controlled, getting more obvious as I cranked it higher. Colour was also good considering ...

ZEISS Loxia 2.8/21: Class-Leading Performance in a Compact Package for Stills or Video on Sony Mirrorless

By Lloyd ChambersThe ZEISS Loxia 2.8/21 debuts in late 2015, offering standard-setting performance along with compact size and attractive operational characteristics. It is an all-new optical design optimized for Sony mirrorless. Performance at least matches all other 21mm full frame lenses on the market today, and it does so on the demanding 42-megapixel sensor of the Sony A7R II. Nor is close range performance neglected, as seen in Golden Trout.
